Optimal Tracking for Nonlinear Systems with Application to Power Converters

This paper presents an optimal controller in order to achieve trajectory tracking for nonlinear systems and minimization of a quadratic cost functional. The synthesized optimal control law comes from solving the Hamilton-JacobiBellman equation for state-dependent coefficient factorized nonlinear systems. The proposed control scheme is applied for the Boost power converter. Power converters are used in different applications such as DC-DC voltage conversion, micro-grids of energy, grid synchronization, grid converter structures for wind turbine systems, energy storage, among others. Advantages in the utilization of power converter can be highlighted as reliability, minimum maintenance, generally small size, low power losses, etc. The effectiveness of the proposed optimal approach is illustrated via simulations.
